Monarch in Huesca

Since the beginning of the 2008-2009 skiing season, the Airport of Huesca at the foot of the Spanish Pyrenees has been a key winter destination for the Monarch company, thanks to an arrangement with the local Pyrenair airline. The London-Huesca route, operated by Monarch Airlines, is Pyrenair’s first international service, in the form of skiing packages at resorts in Aragon, in cooperation with Viajes Aragón Esquí, a member of the Aramón group. The frequency of these flights is weekly, and the aircraft used is an Airbus A-320.

Iberia Handling is the main handling agent at the station. The Huesca airport (HSK) was opened in 2007, and in its first year it logged a total of 12,792 flights. It houses the pilot’s training school Top Fly, which meets the strong to demand for pilots in the People’s Republic of China –most of its students are Chinese. Its location at less that an hour from some of the largest ski resorts in the Spanish Pyrenees has also made it a busy winter airport used by such carriers as Monarch Airlines. Monarch is a major client of Iberia Handling, which served more than 11,000 of its flights in 2008
